With the Czar duo of Park and Andersen calling an audible at the line of scrimmage, ten minutes before tee time, Unit 31 sent 17 golfers off with a new game to play after a flood of late night protest emails caused the czars to craft a new game to befuddle and dismay the intrepid group. As usual, there were the winners and there was everyone else.

This weeks DFL winners, McNamara, Kock (Who are these people? How can this be happening, I just got back to Quail Creek!) and Gattuccio (I shot an 84, I don’t want to be in this picture!), with “Lucky” Royer’ and Pretzer diving to get out of the frame so as to not be associated with the three losers!

This week winners were Diamond, Speece and McKay.

Zatkin congratulating Delozier on not finishing last and not having to play together again any time soon!

Is there anyway I can win this without them finding out?

After much grousing and grumbling the Unit 31 intrepid twenty hit the links yesterday ready to play the annual, “How Come I Have To Play With This Stink’en Pink Ball?” Tournament.

Early favorites, Czar For Life – Andersen, the Corleone Brothers – Gattuccio & Cavalli, and “I Can’t Play Without My Meds – Royer”, faded rapidly as the pink ball took an early swim into the murky waters of the lake on Roadrunner 8. Of special note was Dan DeLozier hitting a roof on RR#3 and ball ends up in the middle of the fairway! Jon (Rocket Man) Hammack’s wall takes a beating (Brooks already had too many stories to tell)!

Winning the coveted DFL trophy was the team of Zatkin, Delozier, Brooks and Pretzer who scored a world record, lost ball score of 293.

Taking the “Winner Takes All” tournament was the team of Parsons, Lein, Diamond and “I Really Love This Game When I Win” Crane, who scored a Pink Ball record score of 273, a modest 20 strokes better than the DFL team.

Of special note was the team of Hammack, McKay, Barnes and Hammack’s guest Catania, who were observed by “I love This Game”, who reported a impromptu foot race between Hammack and Barnes as they raced to save the pink ball from drowning in the lake.

COBRA Leader of the Month Dave “Money Man” Andersen wins (it only took him three weeks)

COBRA Leader Dave sets a new Haven Golf Course record of 63 (his coach “the Stallion” is taking full credit)

Bill “Stone” Diamond kills “Cart Path only” sign (his second sign of the day)

Larry “Mr Bronco” Brooks throws and kicks driver (almost as far as his two out of bound shot on Par 3 #11 )

Jerry “I love this game” Crane tries to drown his rental cart in the pond (glad his team mates yelled at him in time)

Shel “Mr Perfecct Swing Trainer” Zatkin finds the only bush on the course big enough to hide a ball (after drowning his ball on #10) and he’s still looking for his two dollars from last week!

The pace of play was so slow that the Unit 31 guys enjoyed the comradeship with each other at every T box.

Randy “Mr Personality” Kimbrell hits into snow birds (wishes they would go home)

Gary “The Mayor” Pretzer out drives “the Stallion”

Four foot wedges are not enough to save Craig “Mr Low Gross” Parson’s team from winning the DFL trophy.
